Captains log, June 26th and 27th. All hands on deck were Ben, Pat and Gerry. Proceed to the work zone for Brush piles. Cut decked lodge pole piles into proper lengths for rails and building pole /fence posts. Area still remains very wet. We are unable to get a pickup into the work area.

It was very impressive to see what two days of hand work and working with the little tractor did for the old landing sight. There is a small mountain of fire wood starting to build up and the open areas are hand cleaned. One more weekend with the crew we can complete the first big landing area and be ready for area # 2.

The Swan River State forestry is sending a burning permit to the Ranch Via Mail and we will be clear to burn the piles.

A&S logging still working on getting a dozer with brush blade put together with a price. It may be after the 4th before we get the heavy equipment in place.

Spoke with Joe about his excavator. He looked at the Job and we are still waiting for a quote on the work.

Tim and Tucker visited on Sat. and mowed the lawn around Tim’s house. Tucker worked with the Crew on Saturday afternoon.

Patrick found a new shower head in the carpenter shop, and installed it in the cabin. Cabin was cleaned and floors swept.

I copied this from an email that Gerry sent to me and dropped it into this blog. . . *Uncle Fred*

I was able to meet with the Forester and review the work area for the brush and slash work. He upped the grant a bit since we are going to do some hand work as well as machine pile. Still waiting to get with the A&S Logging group on the machinery for the job. We are pretty much rained out for now. I got some of the chores finished up and repaired the washer down at the cabin. Cleaned out the desk up at the main house and made more paper work for myself. Returned the loader to H&E Equip. Services.
Spoke with Mike from the Swan eco system <> Confirmed he will be up with his engineer; they got delayed this week with some tech problems. I also contacted the Conservation District Office to bring them up to speed on what we were doing with the pond. Which is turning the work over to the Swan Eco System for Engineering and permits? They will report that to their board. As I was cleaning out the desk I found the water rights papers and other papers pertaining to the water rights back from back in 1989- 1991. I have not determined just what those papers are all about, but it looks like Mom and Dad had to re-file the irrigation rights and the district was disputing the way they had calculated the flow for the irrigation rights. So I suggest we confer with someone who may know more about all the details on the legal aspects. I will bring this up with Mike H. (Swan Eco System), note if he may have any insight or knows a good source to sort out the information. It would be good to know where we stand on the Water Rights.
I will be starting a log system to track day to day activities at the ranch, to keep everyone informed on works and recreation .
Isaac, caught a nice trout out of the pond , he was very happy.
